Book a Critique Space

Everything you need to know to book a critique space.

Critique spaces are generally not open to the public and support the installation of works created as part of courses and curriculum.

They're typically booked during class time to a maximum of 3 days in selected spaces and provide an important opportunity for peer-to-peer learning, presentation and discussion.

Faculty

To book a space for your class critiques, submit a ticket to as soon as you know your required dates. As space is limited, we ask that you use your assigned classroom whenever possible, however, additional space can be booked during class time if available.

Level 4 Gallery Spaces

Gallery spaces on Level 4 can be booked for class critiques by ART + MFA faculty.

First two weeks of term:

ART faculty can book a maximum of six spaces for each of your Faculty of Art classes. Each booking is for one designated space. If a faculty member books two spaces (e.g. the Inner Elbow Gallery A4050 + the Outer Elbow Gallery XA4050) in the same time-block for a class critique, this would use two of six bookings.

      After the first two weeks + throughout the term:

      ART Faculty can book a space no sooner than two weeks prior to your required booking date.

      MFA Faculty can book a space no sooner than one week prior to your required booking date.

      No limit on number of spaces that can be requested, pending availability.

              Students

              • Consult with your instructor. Discuss the scope of your installation. Assigned classrooms are typically used for critiques, but additional space may have already been booked by your instructor.
              • If you are still in need of a space, determine your space requirements and submit a ticket to .
              • Once received, the Scheduling Office, Community Bookings, will confirm that a space has been held for you. At this point your event is conditionally approved.

              4th Floor Gallery Spaces

              Gallery spaces on the 4th floor can be booked for critiques by Faculty of Art and MFA students throughout the term.

              Faculty of Art students can request a space no sooner than 2 weeks prior to your required booking date.
              If you are booking a space for independent use, your request must be sponsored by a Faculty of Art instructor.

              MFA students can request a space no sooner than 1 week prior to your required booking date.

                  • The Scheduling Office, Community Bookings will coordinate with Facilities for final approval.
                  • Once approved by Facilities, the Scheduling Office, Community Bookings will confirm your booking. Your instructor will also be notified of your booking.

                  While Facilities make every effort to approve all installation requests, public safety and protection of property must be considered.

                  • Be aware of your booking start and end time. There is more than likely someone in the space before and after you.
                  • Read the Critique Guidelines and How to Install Your Work before you begin your install.
                  • Restore the space at the time of deinstall. Campground rules apply: please leave the space better than found when done.
